ABOUT PREFERRED ELECTRIC

Even though Preferred Electric has been incorporated since 2008 in the Twin Cities market, it has a rich history dating back to 1827 through acquisition of Commercial Electric Company of the Twin Cities, Inc. Preferred Electric is committed to continue with the service excellence to its customers. Preferred Electric is a “Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business” and prides itself with a team of experienced and highly trained professionals. With this experience, Preferred Electric understands the special needs of our customer’s business and brings loyalty and dedication to every job regardless of the size or scope.

OUR HISTORY

Preferred Electric, Inc. was incorporated by its founder and CEO, Clint Kruger, on February 29, 2008. Like many emerging startups, Preferred Electric started in the basement of Mr. Kruger’s home.

In January of 2010, Preferred Electric was certified as a Service Disabled Veterans Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Later that same year, the company purchased Commercial Electric of the Twin Cities, which had been in business since 1927.

As Preferred Electric continued to grow, Mr. Kruger moved into his first office in New Hope, MN in August of 2012 and began to hire office staff to assist with the additional workload. The company also became a NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association) member in both the Minneapolis and St. Paul chapters that year.

In 2014, Preferred Electric brought Ed Belland onboard as part owner to assist with the growth and development of its industrial service department.

After being awarded a number of sizable jobs, Preferred Electric outgrew the New Hope office and was ready to take on even more business. In September of 2015, the company purchased Metro Electric Construction Co, Inc. which was established in 1987. Preferred Electric moved into Metro Electric’s Minneapolis office and warehouse building in December of 2015, where it resides today.

Then in 2017, Preferred Electric brought Zack Blake onboard as part owner, bringing his expertise in the construction healthcare industry, specifically the Veterans Administration.

Fast forward to 2022, the timing was right for Preferred Electric to expand their service department. It purchased SECO Electric, a small electrical shop with a focus in service work with a high-volume customer base.
